BIOGRAPHY

I started my career as an artist blacksmith in Hereford in 1988, and later became a tutor at the NationalSchool of Blacksmithing at Holme Lacy. Concurrently, I launched my own business, Dragonswood Forge, in the quiet beauty of East Herefordshire.
I enjoy studying botanical form and structure. Using steel as my medium, I specialise in designing and creating sculptures of different plant forms. I strive for realism and constantly work to refine and evolve my work to reflect, in as much detail as possible, the beauty that nature gifts us. Developing my portfolio over the years, I now produce a wide variety of sculptures, including, but not limited to, ferns, artichokes, chrysanthemums and roses.
Additionally, I make many other garden accessories, for example, benches, garden arches and gates, always heavily influenced by botanical form.
My work has featured in award winning RHS show gardens and nursery displays, and I exhibit regularly at prestigious garden shows and sculpture gardens. My work can be found in private collections across the UK and internationally.
In 2016 I was awarded Fellowship of the Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths, acknowledging the quality of my work and contribution to the craft. This allows me to use the title, Master Blacksmith. In 2017 I was given freedom of the Company which led me to become a Freeman of the City of London, and then a Company Liveryman.
I design and make all my work myself. My ethos focuses on personal integrity and professional originality, striving to develop and challenge myself to produce work that stands out from the crowd.
